To safely protect the developed technology in a biotech company, experienced Intellectual Property (IP) professionals in the life science industry are attracted, sometimes already in an early phase of the company development cycle. Previous experience at other biotech companies or at general IP offices active in the life science industry, and being an European or US patent attorney is usually required for these positions. Litigation, freedom to operate or out licensing experience can also be important requirements.
